How to teach your child to tie shoelaces
Learning to tie shoelaces is a childhood milestone for any child. Many times when kids are trying to learn how you get so frustrated if they get difficult and not easily achieved. With patience and perseverance we can support them in this learning will make them feel big and proud. We give some guidelines to teach your child to tie his shoelaces.
Some tips
Wait for the right time. Not all children are ready to learn to tie his shoelaces at the same age. Most children acquire the necessary skills between 4 and 6 years of age, and girls tend to be ready earlier than boys.
Make sure your child knows not to confuse left and right before trying to teach him how to tie their shoelaces.
Choose a teaching method and show it consistently, and make sure that if another adult or older sibling wants to help your child practice will show the same method, to avoid confusion.
Make up a song, poem or rhyme to remember the steps.
When you show how to tie sit next to her son, not dealt with, so you can copy your movements instead of having to make a mirror.
If your child is a lefty and you’re not (or vice versa) tries to find another adult to teach or practice how to do it the dominant hand.
Teaching method
A very practical way is to teach the method of “rabbit ears” for your little one can better represent the movement of joints. Follow this step by step:
Tell your child that has to transform the strings in “rabbit ears”
First you make a knot for the bunny head. Take the laces and cross them to form an “X”. Then spend a little ear (a string) under the “X” and push hard to form the knot.
Now, “we need to make a rabbit ears.” Form two ears with laces.
Now “we must set the ears to not to drop the bunny.” Make another “X” with the ears, ear pass below the “X” and push hard.
Try these tips and with patience, love and dedication help make your tying small achievement in itself.
