Breast Milk Kills Cancer Cells

breastfeedingBreast milk contains a substance that kills cancer cells

The benefits of breast milk are well known. Strengthen baby’s immune system and helps to maintain good health throughout life, and that adults who were infants tend to have lower blood pressure, less cholesterol and lower rates of overweight, obesity and type 2 diabetes, according to data the World Health Organization (WHO).

Just investigating the antibacterial properties of breast milk, a group of researchers at Lund University and Gothenburg University in Sweden have discovered that a substance found in breast milk can kill cancer cells, as publisher of the journal PLoS ONE.

Although this substance so special, known as “Hamlet” (Human Alpha-lactalbumin Made Lethal to Tomour cells), was discovered in breast milk for several years, now is when it has been possible to test its effectiveness in humans. Thus, patients with bladder cancer who were treated with the substance killed the cancer cells removed through the urine after each treatment, so there is hope that they will become a medicine for cancer treatment in the future.

Hamlet is composed of a protein and a fatty acid found naturally in breast milk, although not yet known whether the substance is formed naturally in the milk or may be formed in the acidic environment of the stomach of babies. Laboratory experiments have shown that Hamlet kills 40 different types of cancer, and researchers come to study its effect on skin cancer, tumors in the mucous membranes and brain tumors. And most importantly, Hamlet kills only cancer cells and does not affect healthy cells.

Breastfeeding is good for babies mental health

Breastfeeding

One more reason for you to give your baby the breast: breast milk is good for the baby’s psychological development. There is evidence that children who are breastfeeding for a short time have more behavioral problems.

Breastfeeding lasting less than six months is associated with increased morbidity in children’s mental health, according to a study in Australia.

Breast milk contains fatty acids and bioactive components that benefit baby’s mental development. One of these components, leptin affects the hypothalamus, hippocampus, pituitary and adrenal glands, reducing stress, while the formula has a depressive effect on the baby.

One interesting finding of this research reports said that younger mothers with fewer years of academic preparation, high stress levels, with less income and who smoked during pregnancy are the most frequently breastfed their children less.

Feeding Newborn Babies Properly

  1. Offer the breast on demand
That is, offer the breast when the babies show signs of being hungry. If babies are sleeping, it will be difficult to hold on the chest but was “on time”.
If you cry because they are too hungry, neither will do well. No need to stick to any timetable. In fact, the success of breastfeeding is at odds with the clock.
  2. Do not limit the time that babies are breast
The time will not be the same for all babies and everyone needs more or less depending on whether you are nervous, if easily distracted, falls asleep while breast.
  3. Breastfeeding in both breasts so they are emptied regularly
You can offer one breast first, until the baby just let go. And give it the second after if you like. The next shot begins laying over. Some babies were filled only with a chest and given the other in the next shot.
  4. Empty Chest
When the breast is not emptied at all can arise some problems such as mastitis. In these situations, breastfeeding is often interrupted because there is a danger of causing an abscess: if the baby wants more milk, you should empty the leftover of the breasts with a pump. Furthermore, the pituitary receives the message that “one does not produce much milk” and this can lead to the end of lactation
  5. Do not let “rest your chest”
Milk production is tailored to the needs of babies. If babies suck more often or longer, the mother’s body responds by making more milk.
If by mistake “it is abandoned to the breast ‘milk production will decrease. The breast is not a store but a well organized factory.
  6. Do not confuse babies
Learning to breastfeed is not equally easy for all babies. Some are confused if they are put in the mouth on a pacifier or a nipple, as both the form of plastic teats as how to be sucked into the chest are very different.
  7. Adapting to the times of baby food in their desires and the rest
When a baby falls asleep before the last feedings should not wake him. The rest will allow the mother produce more milk and relax.

Benefits Breastfeeding for Child

Mother’s milk is the most appropriate and natural food for baby during the first months of life because it provides the nutrients it needs for proper growth and development, while perfectly suited to its digestive function.
Today nobody doubts the virtues of breastfeeding. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for at least the first six months of baby’s life, and continued in combination with other foods until 2 or 3 years old.
One of the most important properties of human milk is to protect the baby against infections such as diarrhea, respiratory infections (colds, bronchiolitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), otitis, etc.., Since during the first year of life their defenses are not fully developed. Similarly, immunological problems (allergies, asthma, leukemia, diabetes, chronic intestinal disease) are less frequent or delay its onset in children who are breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding develops a close bond between mother and child, giving your baby comfort, affection, companionship and security, and helping the mother in her personal development.

Eliminating certain foods help babies allergic to breast milk

babies allergic to breast milkAcademy of Pediatrics United States presented a report indicating that allergic children can tolerate milk if their mothers breast eliminated certain foods from the diet.

In a study published in the journal Pediatrics, doctors reported that mothers of infants who react adversely to milk should refrain from eating eggs, fish, peanuts, walnuts, almonds and milk. However, they cautioned that this would add supplements to prevent deficiencies of minerals and vitamins.

Also, doctors suggest that pregnant women are most likely to give birth to children with allergies need not worry about modifying your diet before birth. In this case, the only possible exception is the peanut.

Studies show that breast milk contains nutrients that reduce the risks of respiratory diseases and prevent other health problems.

Therefore, the group recommended that mothers breastfeed their babies during the first six months, an estimated three percent of babies are allergic to a protein found in breast milk and cow’s milk .
