A New Dad’s Advice About Nappies
If you are an expectant father who is worried about having to do nappy changes, I have some advice for you. I am a new dad, with a seven month old son. I might not be an expert on parenting, but I have already changed more nappies than I can count. Before my wife gave birth to our son, I admit I was worried about changing nappies. I thought it was going to be really disgusting. Plus, because my wife and I decided to use cloth nappies, I was worried I would not be able to do the nappy change properly. Fortunately, nappy changes turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. Honestly, doing a nappy change is usually not that unpleasant. Here are some tips on how I mastered the art of the daddy nappy change.
Learn The Basics
If you are worried about learning how to change nappies like I was, read some guides online. You will quickly see how easy it is to do a nappy change.
Brace Yourself
I am not going to lie to you. If you have a baby boy, he is probably going to pee in your face while you are changing his nappy at least once. This is not the most pleasant experience, but you can wash yourself off, and it is certainly not the end of the world. Plus, you will have a funny story to tell all your friends.
Keep A Sense Of Humor
Try to keep a sense of humor. Nappy changes can be kind of funny, especially when your infant has left something unusual in their nappy. It can be hard to laugh during a middle of the night nappy change, but try to maintain your sense of humor about the whole situation. A good sense of humor will help get you through those long, sleepless nights better than anything else.
Enjoy Your Child’s Babyhood
I keep reminding myself that my son will not be a baby forever. Maybe thinking about how your son or daughter will be toilet trained eventually will give you the mental stamina you need to make yet another midnight nappy change. Try to enjoy your child’s babyhood, nappies and all.
